Obsessively redesigned from the ground up and reborn in its cleanest, simplest and lightest form.

At just 385 g, the Rescue Tarp SL is over 40% lighter than our Classic Rescue Tarp and approximately 40-45%% smaller when packed.

We removed weight and bulk—not the core rescue function. 

The SL retains the defining feature of the Alpine Threadworks Rescue Tarp Classic: a structural** webbing cage that secures the patient independently of the tarp fabric. If the tarp fabric is damaged or torn during an evacuation, the webbing-on-webbing system continues to contain the patient.  Drawing on over two decades of sewing and ski guiding experience, we ruthlessly redesigned this cage, drastically reducing the amount of webbing while retaining the function of the original system.

What did we sacrifice?

Space.  Compared with the Rescue Tarp Classic, the SL provides a smaller emergency shelter (2-3 people vs 4-5 of the classic), a 1 person bivi (vs 2 for the Classic) and a tighter patient package. The Classic has generous room to package additional rescue equipment such as vacuum leg splints, spine boards, O2 tanks, etc inside the tarp during an evacuation.  The SL can fit a skier in gear, skis/padding, but not much more.  Linebacker builds may have to have their arms out of the sealed tarp.

The SL is for the backcountry user who wants the core rescue capability of an Alpine Threadworks Rescue Tarp in the smallest, lightest package possible.

Our goal: every touring group carries one, every day & it works when needed.

• Three-sided Velcro closure creates a single-person emergency bivy and helps keep snow off your patient.
• Velcro pattern creates a three-person bothy bag / emergency shelter
• Structural** webbing cage secures the patient independently of the tarp fabric
• Integrated grab/lift handles, patient tie-in points and haul lines for carrying or dragging a patient
• External edge loops allow for multiple emergency shelter configurations
  
• Tarp does NOT include the haul cords nor tie in straps.  two x 4-6m of cord (or one x 4-6m cord and our tie in straps)  are needed to secure and haul a patient. Some customers choose to use cord (as it's a multi use item) to secure the patient instead of tie-in straps.
• Detail photos & setup instructions are provided to customers with their order. 

**Webbing system is designed for patient packaging, carrying and dragging on snow. Not rated for high-angle rescue, climbing, belaying etc.
